Testing the poly bell tent

Just a quick update

Left it out for a few hours in heavy rain and a few gusts (nothing major 20-30mph ones) and all seems ok!

Also found time to iron gruffatent

Of course Homer helped enormously

I'll just iron around your arse, dont mind me....

Pitched and a layer of fabsil applied

Hosed it down the next morning and is all waterfast

Just need to camp in it now....

Toerag to Gruffatent....

Well finally got round to sploshing some paint on my lovely little Toerag tent (ouch price has shot up on these since last year?!)

Obviously the theme for this was pretty and feminine...the gruffalo

Painting didn't take long, just need to iron the fabric paint, pitch it and slap some fabsil on

So here's some pics of it painted up, all on the dining table as it hasn't been pitched yet, but gives a good idea

Here we go....

First side is Gruffalo's child

First side finished

straight in at the deep end...on to gruffs...

joined by scrambled snake....

and roasted fox...

Gruff side is complete

Didn't want to do much on the doors as it would be a bit overpowering (ha ha..hmm).  So just the gruffatent in the top pic of the page, opposite wall just has his paws and a 'patch'

Just need to find some bits to kit it out now. Not as easy as it sounds, gruffalo stuff is in pretty short supply - no fabrics or anything much around.  What there is, is either highly priced, or every bidder going snaffles it on ebay

Had a play and made a cushion from scratch

Have realised pom pom trim is a bggr to sew

And made an ipad cover anyway (not for tent obviously) but its a bit tight, so have passport and driving licence stuffed in there (useful information for any would be burglars reading this)

Looking forward to pitching it now, will update when I do!

Guinea Shit gets a facelift...

It was never going to be a sows ear to a silk purse but at least Guinea Shit tent looks a lot more presentable now....

So back to the original tent complete with guinea pig teeth marks in the inner tent....my bargain £10 tent which maybe wasn't such a bargain...

It only took a couple of nights as I didn't plan on spending too long or much money on it as it is just to sell on

Original Tent front....

Back with splodge

And a dubious looking inner

Starting the paint job on the nasty splodge first...

2 nights later all done

Complete with guinea shit on the back

Decided to paint the inner - bad idea when it stuck to the table...will know to put paper under it next time

Finally pitched in the garden

Decided to get a few bits to pimp it....and had a go at a bit of crochet. Made these flowers up as i went along and have no idea what stitches i used, except wrap round a few times untill it was as long as i wanted it

Few poppy bits later and its done (dont like the quilt cover much ordered a different one but it hasnt come. Might try and squeeze this back in the wrapper...)

Without the inner (actually prefer it with the inner for once...)

Few bits im not happy with...i pressure washed it twice and it still had a small mark on it like a tide line....but after i fabsilled the paint, have got...bloody lines all over it where the fabsil is!

Im sure it will fade down and I cant be arsed to fabsil the whole tent, so thats pretty much it

Might take her for a trip at the weekend just so she gets used the once

**Updated**

Decided the tent bags were a bit disgusting (plus everything falls out the holes)....

So sewed up a couple of bags today out of the old wardrobe material gumball gave me

All in one bag now

The painted tents are getting contagious

Can't take credit for these as they're not mine

Painted by a strange woman I go camping with who lives in the welsh valleys, she made a vodka fuelled decision to have a go at painting the tent acquired on ebay

The bright yellow relum izmir didn't look it's best on the ebay profile (we did debate whether she had actually finished off the bottle of vodka by the final bidding) but turned out to be a little cracker when she got it.

Pre-painting

The theme is to be daisies and sunflowers. Precutting stencils first (very thorough, mine are just random splats)

The door all daisyed

onto the sunflower trim

Merthyr won't know what's hit it....(actually she's not from merthyr but it winds her up if I say she is)

Shall take some sneaky pics of the finished tent in October when it's pitched and glamped

CRAFTY POST - My revolting conservatory-camping-store-room, really needed a makeover....

Finished!  So I get asked, where do I store all my camping kit? The answer is everywhere...attic...shed...trailor....cam...
